Matterport is unveiling an enhanced generation of intelligent digital twins, boasting impressive capabilities driven by the company’s rapid progress in AI and data science. Currently in beta testing, customers now have access to automated measurements, layout generation, editing tools, and reporting features derived from their digital twins. These AI based features coming from Matterport marks a substantial advancement, saving customers valuable time by eliminating the need for manual measurements and reporting. Instead, it effortlessly processes the multitude of 3D data points captured within a Matterport digital twin.

Accurate room-by-room measurements are a frequent and time-consuming request from property buyers seeking to assess if a property meets their requirements. With this new offering, customers can generate 2D and 3D layouts automatically, complete with annotations that detail aspects of the property, such as walls, room types, dimensions, and total square footage. This functionality empowers buyers to swiftly evaluate a property, while property marketers can expedite home listings and sales by providing instant, comprehensive property insights, including compatibility with Multiple Listing Service (MLS) data. Furthermore, customization features enable property managers to modify layouts for optimal space utilization or to emphasize details crucial for property development, renovation, or remodeling, both indoors and outdoors.

Michigan residential and commercial real estate agents and brokers who utilize the services of Perspective 3D will have these features available in the coming months.

AI, or Artificial Intelligence, refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. These processes include learning, reasoning, problem-solving, perception, and language understanding. AI systems are designed to mimic or replicate certain aspects of human intelligence and perform tasks that typically require human intelligence. Matterport’s AI engine, Cortex, utilizes Machine Learning (ML), a subset of AI that involves training algorithms to learn patterns and make predictions or decisions based on data. With over 33 billion square feet of real-world spaces digitized and added to its knowledge base, Cortex is poised to continue learning, expanding, and shaping the future of digital twins for years to come.

Matterport measurement feature

RJ Pittman, Chairman and CEO of Matterport, expressed enthusiasm for the evolution of their digital twins, highlighting the practical application of AI and automation for property-related tasks. He emphasized the value of AI based features coming from Matterport, providing instant access to precise room dimensions, room-by-room square footage, and floor plans, which builds upon the popularity of Matterport’s Measurement Mode. These new intelligent digital twins offer a wealth of valuable measurements, room identification, ready-to-print layouts, and more, all generated automatically. Pittman referred to these as “power tools” that greatly enhance customer productivity.
